In 2018 I participated in GHD Group’s Smart Seeds programme, which is a global innovation twelve week programme focused on young adults coming together from a variety of sectors and businesses to tackle a challenge set to them. My group had the problem of the general public not being engaged with climate change and decision makers – we came up with an educational programme to implement in primary schools which will teach children about climate change but also has a competition aspect to it, where schools will compete to reduce their carbon emissions the most over a period of time.

My role in the team was to equally contribute to scoping, community engagement, programme development, and pitch and business plan writing. I was also able to contribute to our programme with my creative skills and designed the business case document and the branding for the programme.

This was a very exciting opportunity which I am thankful to be a part of. What was also amazing was that my group was picked from the panel of CE judges as the winner! On the prizegiving night we were able to hand over the business case document to our panel and perspective implementors, and it actually got picked up and is getting trialled and tested as we speak!
