EDITORIAL & TYPOGRAPHY PROJECT: MASSEY UNIVERSITY
For this assignment at university I chose to create an editorial piece to honour Adrian Frutiger, particularly his typeface, Univers as it is one of the most successful and beautiful typefaces in the world to date.
I aimed in targeting the market of designers who may know the existence of the Univers typeface but who don’t actually understand how important and successful a typeface it actually is.
The overall theme I used was to visualise the explosion of Univers in both the design world and the every day world. Through this I used the metaphor of the ‘universe’ to typographically (with diagrams of the galaxy and explosions) and textually (using puns and references to space) show how Univers took over the world, or, ‘universe’!
